The LIFE project “Conservation of the Black-tailed Godwit along the flyway” was started by a kick-off meeting at the Tagus Estuary Birdwatching and Conservation Area (EVOA), close to Lisbon, Portugal. The project consortium consists of scientists and representatives from nature conservation authorities in the Netherlands, Portugal, The Gambia, and Germany.
The Ministry for the Environment, Energy and Climate Protection of Lower Saxony is the lead beneficiary. The European LIFE programme supports the flyway project with almost 10 million euro.
“LIFE Godwit Flyway” started in July 2023 and will run for about seven years, until October 2030.
